Mask Edition
Created during 2022-2023, this series of ceramic masks uses my own childhood face at age six as its foundation – a crucial turning point in my growth.
The mask provides a protective shell and presents a ‘perfect’ appearance to the outside world but fails to stop the fears and emotions from bursting out.
The series expresses the conflict between hiding and being seen. It captures the need for safety and seclusion behind protective walls, balanced against the deep-seated urge for recognition from the outside world, which necessarily demands dropping one’s guard.
